Ridgemark Golf & Country Club, is a public 36 hole golf facility located in Hollister, California. The Ridgemark facility has two 18-hole golf courses, they are The Diablo and The Gabilan. Ridgemark is less than 40 minutes from both the metropolitan areas and Carmel; 15 minutes from historic San Juan Bautista Mission; 45 minutes south of San Jose; 20 minutes from the Gilroy Outlet Center and adjacent to several world class wineries.
The Gabilan golf course first opened for play in 1974. The course was designed by Richard Bigler.
The Gabilan golf course plays to a maximum distance of 6,721 yards for a par of 72 with a course rating of 72.7 and a slope rating of 126.
Gabilan is the longer of the two courses, with par-3's stretch to about 200 yards. This is their interior course, as it wraps more around homes. Gabilan features wide open fairways.
#11, a par-4 with out of bounds left and hazard to the right off the tee, funnels into a bottleneck green. This is a very nice hole - one of the two most-challenging holes on Gabilan.
On #12, you're hitting over a barranca onto a pretty lengthy par-3 into the prevailing wind.
Gabilan is the more challenging of the two Ridgemark courses, partly because the par-3's stretch out to 200-plus yards

I always play this course and the other Ridgemark course early in the am, sometimes alone. Both courses are moderately challenging, in pretty good condition and the pace of play is usually great. It is the best priced golf course in my opinion in all of the San jose area. I like playing there anytime over some of the higher priced public courses in and around San Jose (such as coyote creek).

When you book Ridgemark, unless you ask, you do not know if you are playing Gabilan or Diablo. They alternate play for the public. Playing either is fine, no disappointments. They let me go out on my own recently, played in a little more than three hours.

Greens were *heavily* top-dressed, making them so bumpy hitting a straight putt was impossible. Fairways and tees were spotty. We asked about course conditions when booking, would have been nice to know the greens were so bad.
